Kids Market
We spend some time on Granville Island today and while we weren't able to head into the Kids Market, we got to walk under its very cool sign. I'm going back in two weeks with a friend from out of town, so hopefully I'll get to go in then...and I'll leave my wallet at home!

Smells Like Dessert
My belly has been asking for cream. It was to be soft and smooth. I've been searching for the right cream and decided to try this one. The verdict is still out on this one in terms of happy belly skin, but it smells soooooo good, I want to eat it. My nose loves it. And it's not greasy or icky on my hands. Yummy!

Goodbye BPA
For weeks and weeks and weeks, like since before Christmas, I have been saying that I need to replace my pretty pink Nalgene bottle with a stainless steel bottle. Apparently the trek to the outdoors store is just not something I'm motivated to do. But it was Alex's birthday and I decided he too needed something to replace his Nalgene.
And I found this awesome SIGG bottle at the local outdoors store. Now, it's aluminum, not stainless steel, but that's okay. And it has a great screw in lid that doesn't leak and is easy to attach to a carabiner and best of all, since Alex and I both carry our bottle with us most of the time and we both have the same kind of bag, it fits. It fits in the shoulder bag! Yay! And since I was getting Alex one, I had to get a pretty purple one for myself too (that really is purple, not blue). You know how it is!
UPDATE: Friday, May 30 - I was a bit late with my daily blog reading yesterday (which means it got done this morning), but it looks like I'm not the only one who loves her new SIGG!

Emergency Device
This is one of the very cool gifts Alex got from my parents. It's a hand crank radio/flashlight/cell phone charger/compass/about 25 other things. It's to go with the cases of canned goods my Mom brought, along with the other goodies, when she arrived on Friday night. It's good to have parents who still take care of you!

Coffee From K-town
My Mom is here for the weekend and she brought all kinds of goodies for us, like a nice fan to keep us cool in the summer heat, some asparagus, some canning, and, courtesy of Rebecca and her new job, some tasty coffee and tea (THANKS REBECCA!). We made the Highlander today - it was yummy...and it's apparently the best seller. The Highlander is in its own special plastic bag so that the other bags won't take on its flavour. Too bad I can't seem to take a clear picture these days.

Missing Couch Cushion
So, we got this couch at Easter and it's so wonderfully comfortable, but it came with a booboo, so we have to get it fixed. They took away a cushion so they could match the dye lot on the fabric and then send an upholsterer to our house to replace the damaged panel. They've had our cushion for two weeks now and we miss it...a lot...the two throw pillows somehow aren't quite as comfortable as the real cushion!
PS Check out the knitting...it's still there!

Knitting Resurrected
The knitting has been on hold for a long time - I haven't had the desire or the time to sit down and knit, but this weekend three projects popped out of the knitting basket. They're all the same, but different and all at about the same stage. I've also completed two projects that have been begging to be completed for some time, so maybe the knitting bug is back...or maybe we've finally got our apartment sorted out and life relatively well organized again so I have time to do things like sit around and knit? Who knows!
So those three little bits there - any guesses as to what they will one day become?

Sea Of Red
Now that the incessant rain and drizzle have stopped (shhh...don't say that too loudly, they're supposed to be back next week), taking pictures on the walk to work isn't so much of a juggling act...don't drop your lunch, swimming gear, big bag or camera and keep it all dry...so I've actually been able to take some pictures as I wander in to work. Like this one. Lots and lots of red flowers.

Peekaboo
This little clay elephant from Italy (who has lived in at least four houses in Vancouver, possibly one in Kelowna and London and Switzerland) has been missing since we moved. Lots of things are "missing," but since lots of things are in boxes, I haven't been too bothered about any of it. Anyway, it turns out this little elephant isn't actually missing, it has been living in this Koa bowl from Hawai'i in the middle of the living room for weeks!

Satisfaction
There is something insanely satisfying about finishing a project and having a little pile of scraps next to me. I am not a fan of finishing my knitting. Sewing the ends in is something I just cannot convince myself is okay, even though it means a project is finished. Now I just need to take it to the post office!

X-Life Project
When I was in grade eight, we had to take a class called Life Skills, abbreviated on schedules and report cards as X-Life. There were four one-semester classes: Foods, Sewing, Drafting and Woodwork. My favourites by far were Drafting and Woodwork. I already knew how to cook and sew and ugly shorts were not my idea of a fun project, but I loved drafting and woodwork was even better. If you went to my high school, you likely have one of these benches - I think there were three in our house at one point. This one has been my faithful companion since grade eight. It has been a bedside table, a resting place for a CD player, a telephone table, a Christmas tree stand, a stool to reach the top shelf of our cupboards in the kitchen built for giants (seriously!), and now it's a foot rest so that my ankles come back from vacation!

Yay! I love this time of year. Strawberries are my favourite and they are everywhere. MMMmmmm... (Apparently I mentioned that I love strawberries last year too!)
