Yesterday J kept talking about a “secret” project she was doing with my dad. Except it wasn’t really all that secret since she kept telling us all about it. After they built it, she decorated it and they put it out by the raspberry canes. J always has so much fun when she visits my mom and dad!

J loved playing the piano with my mom when she was C’s age. C also loved it…she is in a banging on things phase, so smashing her hands on the piano and getting different sounds was pretty exciting.

Going to kindergarten has done wonders for J’s confidence on the playground. Not long ago, she was nervous around the fireman’s pole and would only go down with help…now she’s happy to do it on her own!

My Girl And My Grandma

Mama is 80 today! I feel very fortunate to still have my grandmother and I’m so very grateful that my little girls get to have the chance to get to know her. I grew up with two great-grandmas and I know I was very lucky to have them.

Future Basketball Player?

J is in heaven. We have arrived at my grandma’s 80th birthday party and most of the family – four generations – are staying in a dormitory at the local boarding school. J has cousins to play with and there’s basketball and pickle ball and she can go in and out on her own.

Alex and I drove to Manning Park yesterday and met my parents and J at one of the cabins at the resort. We're here for a nice long weekend to celebrate my cousin Amy's wedding. This afternoon we piled into the car and went to the lake for a little canoe (Well, they did. I sat in a comfy chair at the shore and read my book. Bliss!)

J got to "drive" the tractor at the first part of our family reunion today (the nursery tour) and she was in heaven!

First Anniversary And New Teacher Cake

This is the top of our wedding cake. Apparently we were supposed to eat it on our first anniversary. We were a little bit preoccupied with a small person that day and it was in my mom and dad's freezer in Kelowna. Well, we're in Kelowna tonight and TeamHardCore finished her schooling to become a teacher today, so we had to celebrate! The cake was still so absolutely delicious, even almost four years later. My mom had wrapped it really well. There might have been TWO tupperware containers involved...Sorry about the blur factor.

Loader Driver

J loves her big machines...Uncle Mike made J the happiest girl in town and took her for a ride this afternoon. Between cement mixers last weekend and a loader this weekend we're not sure what to do with J next weekend!

Learning How To Make Pizza

Grandpas are the very best...Bop showed J how to make pizza dough tonight. And then we had delicious pizza for dinner...yum!

J and Uncle Sammy have been buddies since she first started visiting Kelowna. This year she's taller than him and she went right over to say hello.
