A Year of P365

A whole year of a picture a day. I'm not sure how I did it sometimes...some days I really didn't feel up to it, more than once a picture was taken pretty darn close to midnight (and it was usually substantially less than spectacular when that happened), but I did it and I'm going to try to keep doing it in 2008.

A quick wrap up of 2007

• 81 pictures had people in them
• 48 pictures of people had Alex in them
• 35 pictures of people had me in them (YAY self portraits and timers!)
• 222 pictures were of things
• 75 pictures were of places
• 11 posts had some combination of two of people, place and thing
• 128 pictures were taken on the A400, 281 pictures were taken on the G7 (of those, 237 p365 pictures were on the G7...not including Christmas and the Blue House)
• 19 pictures were "officially" taken of the Blue House, but there were 27 additional pictures of the Blue House
• 124 pictures were in Vancouver (which really means the Lower Mainland), 25 were in Kelowna, 8 were in Italy, 5 were in London...which leaves 4...one each for Chilliwack, Manning Park, Oliver and Bridal Falls. And yes, that adds to 366 because one day with two pictures, one was in Kelowna and the other was in Vancouver.
• 12 pictures were of knitting - fewer than I would have thought
• 34 pictures were of plants or flowers - more than I would have thought
• 14 posts had more than one picture
• 9 pictures were birthday related, 46 were food and beverage related, at least 5 were about spiders

My Favourite Place In The Summer

The deck. My beloved deck. I'm going to miss it.

And with that, this is the last *regular* picture of the blue house. There may be a few more "official" blue house pictures, but they won't be every day...and we'll be moving rather soon.

The guest room and the office have these pretty door knobs...although the office only has one on the outside - there's no door knob on the inside of the office door.

Dishes

I spend a lot of time here (see all the dishes in the background). We don't have a dishwasher. I am going to really miss the view out the windows while I'm doing the dishes. I will not miss the makeshift dishes shelving (my bookcase) or the tiny little bit of counter space. After we found out we got the new place, Alex and I joked that I must be moving up in the world. The sink in the hobbit hole had only a single sink, the blue house has a big sink with a small sink, but the not-the-blue-house has a DOUBLE SINK! WOW!

Front Gate

This is how you get into our yard. It's spring loaded. It squeaks. It's very loud when it slams. It's nice because I know when someone comes in the yard. It's bad because I know when someone comes in the yard. I'm not really going to miss it. Nope. Not at all.

These crazy Chinese panels, used to insulate and cover the walls heading in to the basement have been featured before. I spent a long time staring at them while waiting for the paramedics to extract me from the basement last December. They're probably the ONLY part of the basement I like.

Goodbye Stuff

Okay, so this isn't exactly the blue house, but this is stuff that's leaving the blue house because we're leaving the blue house...stuff that's leaving, but not coming with us. Jeepers, we have a lot of STUFF!

UPDATE (11.12.07): We took the stuff here and some other stuff to the Salvation Army last night. It's only a block away from our house so we walked, but we still made three trips.

Stained Glass Bathroom

Yeah, so unfortunately it's dark and you can't really see the stained glass, but we do have two (yeah, they're drafty too) stained glass windows in our bathroom.

We have an interesting assortment of light switches in the house, including this one, that is not exactly new.

Bookcases

I love these built in bookcases. If you know me, you know I like books...and I have a lot of them...so these built-in bookcases were super! I'm not sure how we're going to store all of our books when we move - unless of course the new place has built-in bookcases!

Kitchen Windows

I love our kitchen. Even on the dreariest of days these windows (also drafty...seems we live in a very drafty old house!) let lots of light in and the kitchen is a cheery place. I spent a lot of time sitting at the table (a different table than in this picture) when I was off work last year. It was a good place to sit and have tea with my mom and a cozy place to sit while she cooked or did dishes.

It can get a bit chilly in the winter and very hot in the summer (it faces south west), so I made the pink curtains last fall and winter in part to block out the cold and, but also to stop the raccoons from scaring me! I love the way my glass balls looks...yeah, I think I've mentioned that before too!

Guest Room Fireplace

I love this (unworking) fireplace with its green tiles (that you can only kind of see) and the curtain R. installed when she lived here. The mantle with its mirror is so pretty. It is also a bit drafty - you can see the wind sucking the curtain up.

Barn Door

This is our barn door in our kitchen. It has the beloved stained glass and it opens half way or all the way. I always expect to see a horse poke its head through on summer afternoons and evenings. As you can see by the blocker at the bottom, it does get a bit drafty in the winter.

Kitchen Stained Glass

One of the very best things about our house and one of the things that made us really want to live here was the stained glass windows. There are two like this one in the kitchen.
