Getting Her Newspaper

J loves doing the crossword and the Sudoku in the paper and when we went out for a walk and a treat, she stopped to get a paper. She usually fills the crossword in using the previous day’s solution as a guide. I’m not sure how she decides what to do with the Sudoku….

The Last Day

Today is J’s last day at daycare. This morning while I was getting ready to rush out the door, the living room fell silent. J has had major mixed emotions about her departure from daycare and I wasn’t sure if the quiet was another meltdown brewing or what. This was the very pleasant surprise waiting for me when I stuck my head out the kitchen door! J has been reading out loud since the day we brought Baby C home from the hospital (I had suspected for a while that she was reading more words than she let on), but this is the first time I’ve seen her sit and read to her sister. It makes me happy.

J is back! We all went for a walk after dinner and before bed. It’s a beautiful night, but there weren’t many people out. I guess it’s a sign that summer is coming to a close. One more week of summer and then J starts kindergarten! WOW!

J is in Kelowna for the week, but we’re all wishing her a very happy birthday!

The Cake

J requested a cake for her party with a rainbow and pink icing and flowers…and she got it! She loved the marshmallows. J has left for Kelowna for a week and all the pictures from her party are on my Dad’s camera…so the cake will have to do!

J’s grandpa came over today with some gifts for her birthday on Monday…she immediately got the colouring out and got to work!

Birthday Squares

J’s birthday is on Monday. J has no idea, but she’s going to Kelowna on Sunday, so we thought we’d do her birthday thing at daycare on Friday. Except a few kids were already doing their birthday things. So, we’re going to do it tomorrow. J didn’t want cake or cupcakes. She wanted Cheerio and cranberry squares. They are pretty tasty!
