A Year of P365

A whole year of a picture a day. I'm not sure how I did it sometimes...some days I really didn't feel up to it, more than once a picture was taken pretty darn close to midnight (and it was usually substantially less than spectacular when that happened), but I did it and I'm going to try to keep doing it in 2008.

A quick wrap up of 2007
  • 81 pictures had people in them
  • 48 pictures of people had Alex in them
  • 35 pictures of people had me in them (YAY self portraits and timers!)
  • 222 pictures were of things
  • 75 pictures were of places
  • 11 posts had some combination of two of people, place and thing
  • 128 pictures were taken on the A400, 281 pictures were taken on the G7 (of those, 237 p365 pictures were on the G7...not including Christmas and the Blue House)
  • 19 pictures were "officially" taken of the Blue House, but there were 27 additional pictures of the Blue House
  • 124 pictures were in Vancouver (which really means the Lower Mainland), 25 were in Kelowna, 8 were in Italy, 5 were in London...which leaves 4...one each for Chilliwack, Manning Park, Oliver and Bridal Falls. And yes, that adds to 366 because one day with two pictures, one was in Kelowna and the other was in Vancouver.
  • 12 pictures were of knitting - fewer than I would have thought
  • 34 pictures were of plants or flowers - more than I would have thought
  • 14 posts had more than one picture
  • 9 pictures were birthday related, 46 were food and beverage related, at least 5 were about spiders

Some of my favourite posts this year were:

This is the last post of 2007. See you in 2008!!! Happy New Year everyone!

Bidding 2007 Adieu

311207
As you can see, we ended 2007 pretty much in the same fashion as we started it. Different board game, different people to hang out with, but same idea. A nice quiet evening of games, laughter, yummy munchies, and best of all, good company!

Goodbye 2007, you've kept us busy, we've done some great things, had some good times, spent some time with our family and friends. All in all, a pretty good year!

We're ready for it...bring on 2008!

PS I DID IT! A picture a day for a whole year!

Happy Sunday

301207
Alex says Happy Sunday to you all...

UPDATE: March 21, 2008 - This is actually Alex saying, "I'm going to be a DADDY!" We just couldn't tell you that back then.

Plotting Our Next Move

291207
Quite literally. Alex and I spent the afternoon marking our new apartment (now known as the pink palace) up with masking tape to figure out what could go where and what will have to find a new home. We do have to dispose of a few pieces of furniture (and a lot of stuff, but we've been working on getting rid of the stuff for a few weeks now), but none of it came as a surprise. What we actually got to keep was a bit more surprising.

Airport Scrabble

Game 1 of 3 with Kelsey while we waited for her flight to far far away. Hanging out at the airport can be an interesting way to spend the day.

Quiet Night

271207
Tonight was a quiet post-Christmas-chaos night as we tried to finish our cards and relaxed a bit.

Company While Alex Works

261207
My cousins gave these to me and Alex for Christmas to keep me company while he works. They're so nice and cuddly soft. I got the hippo, but they're both great to snuggle with.

Baby's First Christmas

251207MMMmmm...new bunny from Daddy...

251207Yup, it will do, it fits in my mouth perfectly! Thanks for holding on to it (and to me) while I chew Uncle Sandy.

Santa Came!

251207c
And left us stockings...Yay us!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Ready For Christmas Breakfast

241207
This isn't all the fruit for the traditional Mulvi-household Christmas morning fruit salad, but looking at it, I think tomorrow's fruit salad will last us a few days...since there's just two of us and there's enough fruit here for a small army.

Reminder To Self

241207c
Dear Self,

Just in case you've forgotten (and maybe you have or maybe you haven't, it's been a bit nuts this year) this is what we're celebrating tomorrow. Oh and your friends and family and all that good stuff. Relax and enjoy.

Merry Christmas,
Self

Keeping Traditions

231207c
This year is a year of creating our own traditions...some of them will be new to us, some will be new to one of us, some might not be new to either of us. In keeping with the rituals of years past, we will keep using the stockings we used as children (and every year since them)...it's nice to have something familiar in the midst of an unfamiliar Christmas!

It's A Blur

231207
These are some lights in a neighbourhood that had some very nice decorations. My driver wanted to get home, so they're a bit of a blur.

Tagging

221207c
Now we're done. Alex did the tags. I put the tags and the bows on the gifts. The elves have the gifts for k-town. We'll deliver the rest of the gifts tomorrow and Tuesday.

Now we can relax...and write those blasted Christmas cards.

PS Check out the open box next to Alex...his all time favourite cherry chocolates. Apparently a cherry chocolate makes the tag writing easier ;)

p365-356c-07

Snow! It Snowed!

221207
Okay, so it's already melting and the rain is starting, but there was snow when I got up this morning!!!

Ready To Be Delivered

211207
We're almost done our Christmas shopping. Just a bit to do tomorrow and then all we have to do is wrap and tag. Wrap the new purchases and tag them all. It feels so nice to be almost done!

p365-355-07

Last Gift Done

211207
Hand made gift that is...the shopping still isn't quite done...Also for someone who doesn't read the blog...otherwise, secret's out!

Photo Forest

201207c
So this has no obvious relation to Christmas...looks more like wedding, but it's actually gifts for our grandparents...and because none of them have access to the internet, it's probably safe to post them here. (PS Thanks for the picture Fifers!)

p365-354c-07

Sun Snow Mountain

201207
A nice change after the torrential downpours of yesterday. The wind is still a bit nippy, but the sun is a nice change. No more rain drops rebounding off the pavement!

Yup, envious of the view from the boss's office!

Wrapping Station

191207
Our dining room has been transformed into a mini Santa's workshop...okay, well, not workshop, but the place gifts go when they're ready to be wrapped.

p365-353-07

Special Delivery

191207c
Santa's elf visited me last night. She's taking these Christmas gifts to my family for me. What would we do without elves?

My Favourite Place In The Summer

191207bh
The deck. My beloved deck. I'm going to miss it.

And with that, this is the last *regular* picture of the blue house. There may be a few more "official" blue house pictures, but they won't be every day...and we'll be moving rather soon.

Goodbye blue house. I'll miss you.

Door Knob Series - Part Five

181207bh
Yes, the gate isn't a door and the lever isn't a door knob, but it's the closest thing I have to a door blocking the way to the evil stairs.

Torrone

181207
Torrone. One of my favourite Italian treats.

Start New Traditions

161207c
We were at my aunt and uncle's for dinner tonight and they gave us a little present. They have a a tradition of giving each other Christmas ornaments every year and wanted to get our tree started. Aren't they cute?!?!?!?

Angel

141207c
This angel is much more tiny that it looks - so small in fact, the card that came with it specifically said to be careful it didn't get thrown out with the wrapping paper. And I almost threw it out with the wrapping paper after that...

p365-348c-07

Reuse

141207
Every place I shop seems to have introduced these reusable bags. I have an assortment, mostly from the grocery store, but this one, from the Canadian department store that's not Canadian anymore is my favourite.

p365-348-07

Door Knob Series - Part One

141207bh
The guest room and the office have these pretty door knobs...although the office only has one on the outside - there's no door knob on the inside of the office door.

Waxy Santa

131207c
I love this Santa. So much I cut his wick off so that no one would be tempted to burn him, even if I do let him live in a candle stick.

p365-347c-07

Keyed Up

131207
It's ours. Well, officially on Sunday it's ours, but we got the keys today. So next week the measuring starts to see what we need to discard and if we need to rent a storage unit (I'm thinking lots and yes). Yay new house.

p365-347-07

Dishes

131207bh
I spend a lot of time here (see all the dishes in the background). We don't have a dishwasher. I am going to really miss the view out the windows while I'm doing the dishes. I will not miss the makeshift dishes shelving (my bookcase) or the tiny little bit of counter space. After we found out we got the new place, Alex and I joked that I must be moving up in the world. The sink in the hobbit hole had only a single sink, the blue house has a big sink with a small sink, but the not-the-blue-house has a DOUBLE SINK! WOW!

Christmas Relaxation

121207c
In this picture my super warm and comfy, if somewhat loud, Christmas socks that I got last Christmas from Kamiah and Bret are very visible. They figured warm socks were important in the the healing of broken backs (I AGREE!). Also visible is the warm and cozy green and red fleece Santa blanket that Auntie J. and her kids gave me to help me get better (ALSO VERY HELPFUL!). And you can just see the edge of my pjs...Christmas as well. I'm trying to get in the Christmas spirit and it just might be working! Oh...and in the background you can see the debris from the Christmas card writing...just wait until the present wrapping begins!

p365-346c-07

Treat

121207
It's been a long week. So I treated myself. The local Seattle-based, soccer-mom, mega-coffee shop can be tempting when there are three within two blocks of our house, but today I couldn't resist. Sadly (or maybe it's a nice thing) the woman there still remembers me from when I worked at the place where I worked way too much and barely ever ate a meal at home.

p365-346-07

Front Gate

121207bh
This is how you get into our yard. It's spring loaded. It squeaks. It's very loud when it slams. It's nice because I know when someone comes in the yard. It's bad because I know when someone comes in the yard. I'm not really going to miss it. Nope. Not at all.

Tradition

111207c
Every year since we were little, Santa has brought us all at least one decoration in our stocking. I think this was partly so that when we eventually go our own Christmas trees, we'd have some starter decorations. This one was one of the ones that came last year.

p365-345c-07

Cozy Corner

111207bh
I'm going to miss our big old window frames and wainscoting.
p365-345-07

"Extra" Decorations

111207
Two Christmas pictures today mostly because I really liked this one. And it's December. So it's Christmas. And maybe this will help get me into the Christmas spirit.

These are "extra" decorations...which means ones that didn't fit on either tree. Next year it might be time to get a real tree that is more than three feet tall!

One Distraction Fewer

101207
Last week I had to talk to myself about priorities and I mentioned I had three projects on the go. One wasn't a surprise, one was and one used to be a surprise, but it took so long, it's not a surprise anymore. It's also not finished yet. But the surprise is done. Now there are just two projects in the pipeline.

p365-344-07

Christmas Window

101207c
Santa brought these window gel things for us last Christmas, so I decided the front door might be a good place for them. We don't have a swag this year and we don't have lights, so at least front of the house will look a little Christmas-like.

p365-344c-07

Down Down Down

101207bh
These crazy Chinese panels, used to insulate and cover the walls heading in to the basement have been featured before. I spent a long time staring at them while waiting for the paramedics to extract me from the basement last December. They're probably the ONLY part of the basement I like.

Rocking Chair

091207
The rocking chair needed a new home because the Christmas tree took its usual spot. This spot in the kitchen is great - it's a nice place to sit during the day with a blanket, a book, and a cup of tea. Except when Alex sits in it. As it apparently has the unique ability to age him about 60 years!

Man, do my curtains look REALLY pink!
