Being Honoured
Tonight was our Area AGM and our Commissioners were given awards. This is A, laughing pretty hard at something someone was saying about her.

Who's Excited?!?!
Alex and I had lunch with my cousin and her husband today. When we were kids, I used to get her hand-me-downs and I really looked forward to getting those bags full of fun stuff. Then I grew and was way taller than her and that was the end of the hand-me-downs.
Well...so I thought! After lunch, they came back to our house and unloaded the back of their car. And guess what, it was full of hand-me-downs for our new cub from her babies (well, one baby, one three year old and one six year old). It was very very exciting!
This was Alex's favourite item - as soon as it emerged from the back of the car, Alex got a huge goofy grin on his face! And, as you can see, he didn't even take his coat off before he tried it on!!
Oh, and you'll see there is a PERSON in this picture. I went back and did a quick, unscientific survey and since the beginning of the year, well, about half the pictures are of places, half are of things and FOUR (now five), only FOUR are of people. I think I must have become a hermit lately!

New Food?
I have a cupboard full of cookbooks. Quite literally. And there are a couple I use all the time, but mostly I have one or two recipes from each one that I use and that's about it. I actually get most things I make out of my black spiral book - the one with hand written recipes, taped/glued in recipes from the paper or magazines, cards from friends or relatives - that's where the good stuff is.
Alex and I have been finding it a challenge to get food on the table with our crazy work schedules and lunches have been fun too. I think we both finally ate one too many peanut butter sandwiches, so the last few weeks we've been combing the cookbooks looking for things that we can both make (meaning not too time consuming, complicated or full of things the cub doesn't like. Fish has not seen the inside of our house since before Christmas as the cub seems to have a huge dislike for it right now. Which makes me sad. And Alex too. We both like fish. And miss it.) and that will make decent leftovers for lunches.
Anyway, it's been great to go through the cookbooks together - we got a few great ones as shower and wedding presents and we haven't used them yet, but they have some tasty looking recipes in them.
PS Happy Birthday Mom!

Deadline Looms
I have less than three hours to get all of the year end stuff finished and submitted. Ack...so why eaxactly am I taking pictures and posting them?!?! Right, that's called procrastination and it's something I'm good at. Okay, five minute break is now OVER!

Behind Door Number One
We have two bedrooms in our new apartment...it's supposed to be our spare room until the baby arrives and then it's supposed to be the baby's room, but Alex and I were looking at it this morning and we decided that really, this week, we're living in a one bedroom with a large storage room. And with that, it's time to get off our procrastinating butts and finish the purging and unpacking!

And it's so comfortable. And the living room looks like a room (I just need to get rid of the computer graveyard!)

Harry Potter Worked
When I discover I haven't picked up a book in a while and can't seem to read anything, I turn to Harry Potter. And it usually works. I'm rereading Time and Again and I have been pleasantly surprised (or maybe slightly stunned) that I don't remember any of it.

Better Home
The miracle plant has found itself a new home in the window, it might be an east facing window, but it's better than the dark room. And the miracle plant got a drink of water. Hopefully it will continue to bloom now that it's happy.
