Shopping Consultation

We went Christmas shopping today and had to consult with some of Alex's family members part way through our excursion.

Little Buddies

We went to the Santa Claus parade today with Sharla and Chris and their kids. J and I have been buddies since the very beginning and in a couple of weeks they are moving to Edmonton. J and I said goodbye to each other tonight...we probably won't see them again before they go and J has already grasped how far away Edmonton is and she doesn't like it.

J and I played with her cousin C and C's grandma "Glamma" at the park today. J was a little too fast going down the slide for me to catch - I got her feet and the next picture is a whole expanse of yellow slide, but no kid.

Puppets

Yesterday J got a package of puppets from her advent calendar. She and her babysitter put some of them together last night - that's her little hand clutching those popsicle sticks.

Auntie Rebecca came over to visit tonight and brought J a rainbow bird mobile for her room.

Dentist

Today was J's first real dentist appointment. She had been once before when she was about 18 months old and they just got her to open her mouth and the dentist did some gentle prodding.

Today she actually had her teeth cleaned. I went first so she could see that it wasn't scary and then she went.

Her cleaning was much more civilized than mine...she didn't have anyone climbing all over her!

Success

My first loaf of bread maker bread was only so-so. This loaf was perfect. It was a straight whole wheat loaf - the other was supposed to have nuts and fruit in it...but that's a long story...I made a 2lb loaf and I wouldn't do that again - there wasn't quite enough room in the basket for it. But it's good. Even thought it took 4 1/2 hours to make...YUM!

Small Slow Cooker

I have a big slow cooker, but there are so many things that I like to make that need a smaller pot, either because they don't cook well in the big pot or we just can't eat THAT MUCH of whatever it is...so today J and I went and got a smaller slow cooker...we'll see how it does.

I dug around in our storage room tonight and got out our cards for Christmas. They'll sit around collecting dust for a few weeks, but maybe I'll actually get them out before Christmas Eve this year.
