Baby Happy, Baby Sad

We took C to the library yesterday and she got her own library card and J and I picked out some books for her. One of them was called Baby Happy, Baby Sad. She commiserated well with Baby Sad and ignored Baby Happy!

Only Baby In A Wrap

Baby C has been spending some time in the wrap we got for her. Today J found a pashmina of mine and we tied Only Baby up into it so she could be in a wrap just like the baby!

Learning To Take A Bottle

In order to get enough to eat, C needs to take a bottle. But she’s mad. And she doesn’t want it. She won’t take it from Alex, but she will take it, begrudgingly, from me if I put her on a pillow or a blanket as far away from me as possible. No holding her allowed. I miss holding my baby to feed her. I hope she gets over this soon!

C is obsessed with the fan in the dining room. She twists her body around until she can see it whenever she’s in the living room!

My Little Helper

Baby C is transitioning to a bottle and it is taking a very long time to feed her…I’m also still nursing. Oh, and did I mention there is a pump? This is not much fun for any of us! 

With all the extra time we are having to spend with Baby C right now I would completely understand if J was really annoyed with us, but this is what I found tonight in my kitchen...when I asked her what she was doing (I know, obvious), she said she was helping me because Baby C needed me and if she did the dishes I could have a "little rest!" She did all the dinner dishes except the sharp ones and the "delicate" ones and we only had to redo a few!

Very lucky to have such wonderful little girl.

Princess Tea Party Bound

Today is a busy day…we have two birthday parties. The first is at a bouncy castle and the second is a princess tea party. J had her hair done in rags last night so she has amazing curls today and she has a crown. She’s also got a pretty party dress to wear.

My parents got C a swing as a welcome to the world present. It has made dinner time so much easier. We had to leave it behind in Kelowna because we were flying home, but today this arrived. YAY! Mommy and baby are both happy!

Goodbye Rocker

When I first moved into my own place (the Hobbit Hole), I owned a bed and a computer desk and a bench that I made in grade 9 woodwork. I had scraped my pennies together (I still worked at a corporate entertainment office and was being paid in peanuts and beer…okay, fine, peanuts, I paid for the beer from my peanuts) and managed to buy a table and chairs a dresser and a wardrobe (the Hobbit Hole didn’t believe in closets). A friend donated a well-loved couch she had received from friends who had purchased it at a second-hand store. My parents brought me some bits and pieces from their house and my mom bought a couple of things that had been in a show suite that had sold…this rocking chair was one of those things. It worked well in the Hobbit Hole. It had a place in Blue House and even in the Pink Palace, but it has never worked in this apartment. It’s been in the living room and J’s bedroom and is now back in the living room.

Or it was. We put it on craigslist and within in minutes we had gotten rid of it and had 10+ backups if the first person fell through. And I’m not going to miss it. A rocking chair is nice when you have small children but this one is not the most comfortable…it always made my back sore. And when we have a bit more space, I will be investing in a glider. I do still have small children!

I Have So Much To Say

C has started chattering. Along with chattering comes complaining and lamenting the woes of the world…she has discovered that the baby in the mirror will listen to her complain for as long as she needs to complain. Way better than those human people she lives with!!

Yes, we are back at the park! This park, part of the same park we were at on Sunday and Monday, is actually the playground at the school J will be attending in the fall. Her goal is to be able to cross the rings in one go before kindergarten starts.

J and C had their immunizations today…once they were done, J and I decided we should have an early lunch and of course she chose a nice, warm, hot chocolate with lots of whipped cream as her drink! She was super brave and didn’t even flinch when she got her shot. And she was so helpful with C who was quite distressed about her shots.

Back Again

Our apartment is warm, so the best thing to do is head off to the park and burn some energy and get some fresh air! J loves it!

Swinging With Daddy

We’re home and the first thing we did was head to the park so that J could get some swing time in…she missed Daddy and these swings are ALMOST as good as the ones at Lollie and Bop’s house.

J had a blast in the sprinkler tonight. I’m sure the whole neighbourhood could hear her giggles! We’ll be sad to head home on Sunday…we’re missing Alex, but it is so nice to be here, in a large house with lots of outside space just out the back door!

J got a new dress…Today she was J the explorer with her new binoculars from her great-auntie and her rubber boots and her walking stick.

Later on, her dress substituted for a bathing suit as she cooled off in the sprinkler. Summer is in Kelowna. And we wish we could stay all summer!

I can’t remember what the story was that J was “reading” (she read part of it out loud for me) but I am pretty sure it had nothing to do with the plot of When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit.

Tree Felling

This tree stood at the corner of our house since we moved in over 20 years ago. And since the day we moved it, it made my mom nervous. So it came down today along with another tree behind it on the hill. The difference it makes to the yard is amazing! Tomorrow the tree guys will be back to take down three other trees.

Perfect Night For A Party

We came up to Kelowna in part because there was a big birthday bash for my great aunt who will be 80. It was held here, at another great aunt and uncle’s beach front home.
