Fire Engines
There was a small fire beside our building tonight. Everything ended up being fine, but it was very dramatic when it started - lots of fire engines, lots of noise. J woke up so we opened her blinds so she could see what was happening.

Dinner A La Grampa
I remember when we were kids, visiting my grampa. Sometimes we'd have crackers and cheese and sausage for lunch. Well, that's what we ended up having for dinner tonight (the soup is a bonus). We don't often eat like this and all three of really enjoyed our "special" dinner!

Daycare Laundry
Our "job" for daycare is to wash and dry the nap blankets once a month. I did it tonight - three loads of laundry and one sewing machine repair (for the bag, not a blanket) I'm finally done.

Area Rugs!
After months of looking, I think I finally found our area rugs. I just have to bring Alex in to see them...

Going To School
Mama gave this little figurine to J when we were in Manning Park. She loves it - it fits perfectly in her hand.

Old Friends Make New Friends
When I was in university, I lived with five other girls in an apartment for two years (well, six, but only five at a time). Today three of us met up out in Abbotsford with our husbands and kids. It's been ages since we've seen each other (at the same time). The youngest wasn't even born the last time I saw them! We had a great time catching up and pledged to do it again soon...the kids loved each other. Four little girls out-numbered the little boy, but J loved him and he liked being able to show her how to use his toys - it seems his sisters don't really care to play with them! I couldn't decide which picture I liked best, so here are two!
It's not so easy to get five kids to sit still - this is the closest we came!

Riding The Bus
J was so excited this afternoon. Not only did we get to ride the bus, she got to sit in her favourite seat (right at the back) and she got to get her hair cut (she loves our stylist) and she got to have NO NAP and we went shopping. Can the day get much better than that? Oh yes it can, she got to have her own bus ticket and we got a new, firetruck lunch bag.
Phew. What a day!

Favourite Bookstore
We have a favourite bookstore - it's a local store that specializes in books for kids and young adults. J loves the train table the most - although she gets pretty excited whenever we head in here, she leaves carrying a new book!

Morning Oatmeal
We know it's fall again at our house when we start having oatmeal for breakfast most mornings. Yummy!

Possum Magic
This is the new favourite book. We read it twice this morning already and we haven't even left for daycare yet!

Long Day
She's pooped. This first full day thing has exhausted her. Me too. Hopefully this means she'll go to bed early (just so that I can too!)

Late Morning
Since J started at the new daycare, we've been going in for 9:30 - she doesn't get to start until her regular time (8:00) until tomorrow. I think it's going to be a struggle for both of us this week. The extra hour and a half makes a huge difference!

Goodbye Book
J's old daycare makes these books for each child when they leave. J's has about 25 pages. We dropped by today to say hello and they had her book ready for her. She loves it. We've read it about 86 times since we got home and she went to bed with it. Each pages has some photographs of J with the other children and all of the teachers wrote the captions. The very last page is a special goodbye letter from the teachers. We already miss the old daycare!

Returns
We picked out some new shirts for J yesterday on our shopping expedition. She has a number of items that are the same brand as this and the size 3 and 3X are a bit tight, so we got size 4. We tried them on when we got home - a fashion show for Daddy - and the 4s are already tight. The size 3X pants are slightly big. Go figure. I took pictures of all the shirts so I wouldn't have to pull them out of the bag when I was choosing the next size up (so many choices)...I can't believe she's into some size 5 clothing!

Slippers
J and I went and did some shopping for her new daycare after her short time there today (I am not enjoying this transition!). They have a "home" atmosphere at her daycare, so they ask all the children to wear slippers inside. We had a hard time finding some in J's size, but she was quite happy when did find some that she could get Princesses on them.

First Day At The New Daycare
Today is J's first day at her new daycare. She chose her outfit this morning. Her favourite skirt and a hockey shirt.

Tunnel Climber
We stopped at J's favourite park in Hope on our way home from Manning Park. She had a great time climbing and running and jumping!

Canoeing
Alex and I drove to Manning Park yesterday and met my parents and J at one of the cabins at the resort. We're here for a nice long weekend to celebrate my cousin Amy's wedding. This afternoon we piled into the car and went to the lake for a little canoe (Well, they did. I sat in a comfy chair at the shore and read my book. Bliss!)

It's A Start
This looks way better than it did but I still have a lot to do. When I started, there was no where for J to store her clothes and stuff always threatened to jump out of the closet. I tossed six boxes of stuff, kept just over one bag of stuff and feel better organized now...by next summer I hope this closet only holds J's old clothing and her things. That's it. We'll see how I do.
