First Decorations

We put the tree up tonight. We've got a few more decorations than the tree has branches (apparently this was the case last year as evidenced by the little tree on the key table...my drug induced state of last Christmas caused me to forget that little tidbit - the little tree and the too many decorations dilemma - so we have acquired even more decorations this year). This is one of my favourite ornaments...the hanging Santas, not the giant reindeer butt.

Kelsey Is Home!

Kelsey came home from Kenya tonight and we met her at the airport. We were so glad to see her. She kept apologizing to us for being so smelly and dirty...but we didn't notice. Lucky for her she has a nice mom and sister - Mom brought her winter coat down to us a few weeks ago and we took it to her tonight. She would have been a tad bit chilly if we hadn't!

Goodbye Stuff

Okay, so this isn't exactly the blue house, but this is stuff that's leaving the blue house because we're leaving the blue house...stuff that's leaving, but not coming with us. Jeepers, we have a lot of STUFF!

UPDATE (11.12.07): We took the stuff here and some other stuff to the Salvation Army last night. It's only a block away from our house so we walked, but we still made three trips.

Stained Glass Bathroom

Yeah, so unfortunately it's dark and you can't really see the stained glass, but we do have two (yeah, they're drafty too) stained glass windows in our bathroom.

One Cause Of My Lack Of Motivation

This is one of the reasons I had to sit down and give myself a lecture. This one isn't a surprise, but is for someone who might be going far far east, pretty much as far east as you can go without leaving the country, right after Christmas. So Miss B, if you see this, I hope you like it...I know you like the colour!

Christmas Lights

Okay, so I got tired of the Nativity Scene...it's really the only decoration (besides my beloved glass balls) that we have up...Christmas didn't start in the Mulvi household until after cousin Melissa's birthday on December 10 and it's having a hard time getting started early in our house because of that. Monday is the 10th...maybe then some other decorations will miraculously appear! Until then, well, I might have to do some more wandering the neighbourhood. Sorry about the shaky hands. It was cold and I was hungry...

Smells Good

Too bad I can't have a smell of the day. I love this apple(?) candle. Michelle gave it to me ages ago...like I think maybe it went to England and back with me. It's almost at the end of its life. We're trying to minimize stuff before the move and rather than throw this away, I thought I should just burn it!

Bookcases

I love these built in bookcases. If you know me, you know I like books...and I have a lot of them...so these built-in bookcases were super! I'm not sure how we're going to store all of our books when we move - unless of course the new place has built-in bookcases!

A Bit Of Blue

There's a rain fall warning again today and cautions that we might be have a repeat of last winter's turbidity problems, but when I got up this sliver of blue sky was showing...and the torrential downpours of yesterday haven't materialized yet today.

Kitchen Windows

I love our kitchen. Even on the dreariest of days these windows (also drafty...seems we live in a very drafty old house!) let lots of light in and the kitchen is a cheery place. I spent a lot of time sitting at the table (a different table than in this picture) when I was off work last year. It was a good place to sit and have tea with my mom and a cozy place to sit while she cooked or did dishes.

It can get a bit chilly in the winter and very hot in the summer (it faces south west), so I made the pink curtains last fall and winter in part to block out the cold and, but also to stop the raccoons from scaring me! I love the way my glass balls looks...yeah, I think I've mentioned that before too!

Guest Room Fireplace

I love this (unworking) fireplace with its green tiles (that you can only kind of see) and the curtain R. installed when she lived here. The mantle with its mirror is so pretty. It is also a bit drafty - you can see the wind sucking the curtain up.
