So Sour!

J was helping me make dinner tonight. She wanted to taste all of the ingredients before they went in the mixing bowl (I let her. Why not. As long as they were safe. I obviously didn't let her taste the raw egg.) Once I'd juiced the lemons, she decided she wanted to eat the leftovers. This is the second of four lemon halves she sucked on. I love the expression (and her perseverance...not sure if she thought they'd eventually get sweeter?)

Reading with Lallie - see how J has one book and Lallie has one book? That's the way we like to read these days. J has her own book and you need to read your book out loud while she reads hers. Talk about multitasking!

Reading with Bop. J was so happy to see her grandparents when we got home today. She loves visiting with them and it's so nice when they come from Kelowna to see us. I wish we lived closer!

New Friend

Alex's brother and his wife came over with our nephew Connor. They brought J her birthday present as they were out of town when we had her party. She couldn't decide who was her favourite friend - eight year old Connor (who played so well with his two year old cousin) or this caterpillar.

Seriously?

We had an incredibly busy day today - J's first time swimming in a pool (she's been in the lake and the ocean before, but not a pool), a birthday party, and dinner with Alex's parents, brother and niece.

You'd think on a day like that I'd have a better picture.

Nope.

Finishing Touches

J got new paint and some new furniture in her room while she was away. We figured we'd finish it off right and change the door handles too.

Back To School

Heddy and I went out tonight to celebrate our new year. We were supposed to buy our "school supplies" - I did end up with pens and Heddy ended up with some medium...we had an awesome dinner and a good catch up...hooray for the new year!

This is J's room before it gets made over. Two colours ago, apparently it was this lovely mustardy orange colour. UGH!

Thirsty Walls

The walls are thirsty. The bathroom was actually darker than the rest of the pink paint through the condo - and it's thirsty and sucking up the blue like a sponge. I might have to go get more tomorrow because two coats might just not be enough...sigh...

A New Dress?

Doesn't quite look like a dress. I went out tonight to get a new dress for a wedding we're going to on Saturday. I didn't find a dress, but I did come home with a bag full of daycare clothes for J.

Back To School Baking

While J isn't technically going back to school, it feels like back to school is coming. We're going to have a big schedule change in September, so I've been getting ready by filling the freezer with quick things for lunches and for dinners.

First Day Of Daycare

Little Miss J went to daycare for the first time today. It was just a short visit and Mom and Dad stayed with her too. I tried to get J to pose at the front door or on the rocking chair but she wanted her picture with her book. She wanted to take the book with her because the other kids might want to read it...because, you know, maybe the daycare won't have books.

I spent some time clearing off our desk tonight and I think I threw out, oh, 30-35 pens. I have lots of pens. They go with my paper obsession...I actually tried all the ones shoved into this container and got rid of the ones that don't work!

It's J's birthday and she got this adorable rain suit from my parents...and of course she wanted to wear it. It didn't last long when she realized how hot it was!

We got J her first movie from the library today...she got comfortable very quickly and making dinner was much quicker than usual! YAY!

Cozy Animal Bed

Before bed tonight J made herself a cozy bed in a pile of stuffed animals and then got all her little Fisher-Price animals and tucked them in around her. Because, you know, that's what you do!
