We went to the Lavender Farm today to check out the new building and gardens...it was great (even if it was super hot!). Yeah, yeah, I also couldn't decide which picture to use.
My parents looked after J so that Alex and I could go out...we had a total Kelowna teenaged date night...we started with Jungle golf and air hockey at Scandia and then went for Blizzards at Dairy Queen and then for a drive through town...nice...
If you have a toddler you know that silence usually means trouble. I was in the kitchen making breakfast and J was hanging out in the living room. All of a sudden I realized I could no longer hear J and there was a strange noise in her bedroom. Turns out the strange noise was the rocking chair rocking and the quiet was because J was busy reading (these books actually).
J is currently obsessed with tracing hands when she colours. That is having other people trace their hands or her hands. She will often yell someone's name followed by hand - a direct command to come and trace your hand and her hand. I found this picture stuffed in my bag when I got to work...I often find interesting things stuffed in my bag when I get to work!
When we visit my parents, J gets to play with my old stuff (well, some of it belonged to Kelsey and Rebecca too). She loves sitting at this little table and this afternoon I discovered these old puzzles. Who thought she'd died and gone to heaven?!?!?!
This is the reason we're in Kelowna this weekend. My dad was installed as president of his Rotary club. What Kelsey didn't know was that my parents had arranged to recognize her for her work in Kenya with a Paul Harris Fellow. The Rotary club made a donation so that she could buy the orphanage a cow. To top the evening off, my dad was also named Rotarian of the year. What a great night! Here we all are (minus J who got hang with an awesome sitter!)
We got a new bed today. But our bedroom is kind of neutral blah...I went and looked for some new bedding on the weekend, but all I could find was grey or navy. We live in Vancouver. It rains. A lot. And it's grey. And our bedroom faces north. We're going away this weekend, so I'm hoping I'll find something happier in Kelowna!
While I was cleaning up from breakfast, I heard a strange noise - silence. There was J on the couch with some books. And she had gone into her room and dragged a blanket out to keep her warm!
J got this pretty porcelain clown from Mama. It's a music box and J loves listening to it! She called it her baby and the first thing she wants to do in the morning when she gets up is listen to her "baby"
