That's what this is...it's a gift I got for Christmas that I can't wear because it still has the dye tag. I'm trying to find somewhere that uses them that will take it off for me.

Little Legs

J had to come to a meeting with me this afternoon. Alex was coming to pick her up, but she'd had enough and wanted a nap before he arrived. I couldn't believe how willing to sleep she was...she took my hand and lay on her blanket, with my coat over her, and started her going to sleep ab exercises...Alex arrived seconds before she fell asleep, so we moved her into the stroller and she crashed!

Paperchase Bag

I bought some of this stuff for Rebecca for Christmas (okay, so nothing I bought her is actually pictured) and I bought this small book bag for myself. I love Paperchase. Not sure if I'll be able to use this bag though, a small person in our house has claimed it for herself!

Homework

Kelsey needed some help with her math homework (it was more like a logic problem)...the problem is below and the grid above helped her get her answer...the second problem was kind of fun, but needed no grid (maybe I'm a big dork?)

Problem One:

A shaky story. Stacy and Sam Smyth wer known for throwing a heck of a good party. At one of their wild gatherings, five couples were present (this included the Smyths, of course). The attendees were cordial, some even shook hands with other guests.

Although we have no idea who shook hands with whom, we do know that no one shook hands with themselves or his or her own spouse. Given these facts, a guest might not shake anyone's hand or might shake as many as eight other people's hands. At midnight, Sam Smyth gathered the crowd and asked the nine other guests how many hands each of them had shaken.

Much to Sam's amazement, each person gave a different answer. That is, someone didn't shake any hands, someone else shook one hand, someone else shook two hands, someone else shook three hands and so forth, down to the last person, who shook eight hands. Given this outcome, determine the exact number of hands Stacy Smyth shook.

Problem Two:

Lights out. Two rooms are connected by a hallway that has a bend in it so that it is impossible to see one room while standing in the other. One of the rooms has three light switches. You are told that exactly one of the switches turns on a light in the other room, and the other two are not connected to any lights. What is the fewest number of times you would have to walk to the other room to figure out which switch turns on the light? And the follow up question is: Why is the answer to the preceding question “one”?

We dropped J's high chair today so that the tray is the same level as the table. Guess who is so proud of herself now that she gets to eat at grown up height!

Ready For Bed

J still lifts her legs like this before she falls asleep. It's also a pretty good sign that's she's tired and ready for bed. She's also developed an obsession with her rain coat and loves wearing it all the time - inside and outside!

At Nana's

We had dinner with Alex's grandma tonight (we were celebrating her birthday - she turned 91 yesterday!) and J was so proud of herself - not only was she allowed to stay up past her bedtime and have a cookie but she got to sit in a grown up chair ALL BY HERSELF *AND* the TV was on! What a night!

J loves her copy of Each Peach Pear Plum and back in October I thought it was on its last legs...but it's still around! A bit tattered, a bit chewed, a bit bent and a lot loved!

Wrapping up P365 III

Wow, so apparently, since I've been doing it for three years, I am capable of taking a photo a day! My goal for 2010 is to try to post more regularly - I'm going to aim for every Sunday, if not more often (please please please hold me to that!)

Asleep In The Airport

It's very tiring dropping one person off and picking another up at the airport...really...okay, so to be fair, Alex did start work at 5:00 this morning so he'd been up since 3:00 or something ridiculous like that...and J didn't have an afternoon nap.

Big Gloves

J refused to wear gloves today and her little hands were like ice cubes. Then Paula had a brilliant idea - J loved wearing Paula's gloves and her hands warmed up. I think Paula had cold hands though!

Christmas Dancing

We had a second Christmas (well, actually third) today with Alex's family. The girls love each other and had a great time dancing under the tree!

We went to Stanley Park today to try to take the train, but unfortunately it was all sold out. J loved the lights and didn't even notice that we didn't go on the train.

Science World

Paula took J to Science World with her today. I had to go to work for a few hours and J's sitter is already gone away for Christmas, so it was great (for all of us) to have Paula take J. They had a great time together and I got lots more done in much less time than I would have if J had come with me!

On our way to see Alex's parents today, we stopped in to see some friends who have a new baby - she's six weeks old. J loved her bouncy chair and spent a lot of time lying it gazing at the Christmas tree!

It's Snowing From The Sky

We spent today at Grouse Mountain and while it was sleet-snowing when we got there, Paula did get to see "real" snow just before we left - it was snowing very hard!

Chaos Times Two

So who knew that twice the toddlers could create ten times the mess! J's little friend Inara came over tonight for a few hours while her parents went out - the girls had fun (they spend most days together when I'm at work). They had a great time!

A New Bed?

My friend Paula arrives from South Africa tomorrow and she'll be sharing a room with J for two weeks. We set her bed up tonight and J was pretty excited to see the bed and crawl all over it!

New Lights

Jared came over today to help Alex install our new light fixtures. The living room, dining and kitchen all got new fixtures. We love them. I don't have any before-after pictures as they were well into it by the time I got home. You can see our hideous old chandelier and the one little halogen spot in this post from over there. The lights in the kitchen were the same type of lights as the halogen spot. This one isn't completely installed in this picture...I'll post the rest of the lights eventually.

Ready For Company

J is going to have a roommate for a couple of weeks, so I finally got rid of the baby stuff she's no longer using and the clothes she's out grown (and by "got rid of" I mean packed up and put into storage). It also means her changing space has moved out of the bathroom and into the bedroom and onto the change table...that only took, oh, almost 16 months.

All Dressed Up

I tried to get a picture of J in her Christmas dress today, but she really didn't want to sit still. Finally I gave her a book and her "big girl chair" and she sat still (kind of) long enough to get a sort of decent picture. I'm going to have to try again...maybe with Alex to help me distract her!
