Shelf, Repurposed

Jocelyn was obsessed with the books in the bottom shelf of the bookcase in our room. So we replaced them with something a little more Jocelyn friendly...some of her toys...we'll see what she does when she finds them tomorrow.

Pjs In The Park

So, I gave Jocelyn a bottle of water to drink on the way to the park and she finished it really quickly...it's a warm day, so I thought she was just really thirsty. REALLY thirsty. We got to the park to play and it turns out the top wasn't screwed on the bottle very tightly and she was soaked from her armpits to her knees. She was wearing dark pink so we didn't notice it either. And she didn't complain once on the breezy walk to the park...she had to play in the park in her pjs because that's all I had in the diaper bag to change her into. So here she is in her pjs and sunhat.

Mother's Day Flowers

Alex brought me some beautiful flowers for Mother's Day...this is all that's left and it's currently sitting in a drinking glass on the stove...because I cannot seem to find my little blue vase...oh to be completely unpacked and settled!

Stranger In My Living Room

Alex has a different work schedule than usual this week, so it was a nice change to see him sitting in our living room, hanging out when I went to bed. Oh how I envy people who work 9-5 all the time!

Marathon

The Vancouver Marathon went past our place this morning...and it definitely made some noise and Baby J was up around 5:45 to cheer the runners on...even though they didn't come until around 7:45....

Baby Containment Unit

Now that Baby J can crawl and can crawl well, we need a way to keep her from getting into things, like the fireplace, electrical cords and furniture, so the playpen is back in the living room. She was quite curious when I first set it up.


J actually quite likes hanging out in the playpen if there are toys in there to play with.

Bye-Bye Butterfly

Okay, so I have too much stuff. I'm a pack rat (see #19). I fully admit it. But in the last year and a bit I've been getting better at getting rid of stuff.

I've been applying the follow criteria and I slowly move through our house (which has much less stuff in it because we've moved twice in the past 18 months...the pack rat in me still laments the Blue House because if we didn't have to leave it and its gloriously huge basement storage room, I could have kept ALL that stuff! But it's good that it's gone.) So the questions are:

• Do I love this item?
• Have I used it in the past year?
• Is it really garbage?
• Do I have another one that is better?
• Should I really keep two?
• Does it have sentimental value that causes me to love it?
• Does it give me guilt and make me sad when I see the item?

And it's working. I also read an article in Real Simple that suggested taking pictures of things that you like but have no use/space for...

Anyway, this little butterfly decorated my room when I was in England the second time. And it's time for it go live somewhere else. I'll miss it...maybe...but more likely I won't notice that it's gone...

Off to declutter some more!

Something Not Pink

Also known as something blue.

When we were in Kelowna a few weeks ago, I did some of Baby J's laundry and my mom remarked on how almost everything she owned was pink (with a smattering of white and yellow). J does have some clothes that are purple and green, but they're in a bigger size and we're not there yet. So, my mom brought this little outfit down for her for Easter. Except, well, I think it's too big and will go in the same pile as the purple and green stuff! But is it cute!

End Of A Beautiful Day!

Today was spectacular! Just beautiful and so warm. Baby J and I walked to yoga and then home and then in the afternoon we met up with J's aunties for iced coffees in the park. Baby J really needs a sun hat - she had to keep her toque on her sensitive little head even though it was warm out...I guess that's a project for the weekend!
