Missing Couch Cushion

So, we got this couch at Easter and it's so wonderfully comfortable, but it came with a booboo, so we have to get it fixed. They took away a cushion so they could match the dye lot on the fabric and then send an upholsterer to our house to replace the damaged panel. They've had our cushion for two weeks now and we miss it...a lot...the two throw pillows somehow aren't quite as comfortable as the real cushion!

Knitting Resurrected

The knitting has been on hold for a long time - I haven't had the desire or the time to sit down and knit, but this weekend three projects popped out of the knitting basket. They're all the same, but different and all at about the same stage. I've also completed two projects that have been begging to be completed for some time, so maybe the knitting bug is back...or maybe we've finally got our apartment sorted out and life relatively well organized again so I have time to do things like sit around and knit? Who knows!

So those three little bits there - any guesses as to what they will one day become?

Sea Of Red

Now that the incessant rain and drizzle have stopped (shhh...don't say that too loudly, they're supposed to be back next week), taking pictures on the walk to work isn't so much of a juggling act...don't drop your lunch, swimming gear, big bag or camera and keep it all dry...so I've actually been able to take some pictures as I wander in to work. Like this one. Lots and lots of red flowers.

Peekaboo

This little clay elephant from Italy (who has lived in at least four houses in Vancouver, possibly one in Kelowna and London and Switzerland) has been missing since we moved. Lots of things are "missing," but since lots of things are in boxes, I haven't been too bothered about any of it. Anyway, it turns out this little elephant isn't actually missing, it has been living in this Koa bowl from Hawai'i in the middle of the living room for weeks!

Satisfaction

There is something insanely satisfying about finishing a project and having a little pile of scraps next to me. I am not a fan of finishing my knitting. Sewing the ends in is something I just cannot convince myself is okay, even though it means a project is finished. Now I just need to take it to the post office!

X-Life Project

When I was in grade eight, we had to take a class called Life Skills, abbreviated on schedules and report cards as X-Life. There were four one-semester classes: Foods, Sewing, Drafting and Woodwork. My favourites by far were Drafting and Woodwork. I already knew how to cook and sew and ugly shorts were not my idea of a fun project, but I loved drafting and woodwork was even better. If you went to my high school, you likely have one of these benches - I think there were three in our house at one point. This one has been my faithful companion since grade eight. It has been a bedside table, a resting place for a CD player, a telephone table, a Christmas tree stand, a stool to reach the top shelf of our cupboards in the kitchen built for giants (seriously!), and now it's a foot rest so that my ankles come back from vacation!

Alex came home tonight and dinner was almost ready. He insisted he needed to go out again right away. About 12 minutes later there was a knock at our apartment door. I was a bit hesitant to open the door since no one had buzzed in...well, standing there was this bouquet of flowers (and Alex too). Seems the errand he had to run before dinner was flowers for me...awwwwww...

Book Diet Revisited

A while ago I decided I need to go on a book diet. The book diet sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, but right now it's actually working quite well. This is the stack of books I borrowed from the Mulvi-Library, North Vancouver Branch, at Easter. Yes, I do own the last Harry Potter book, but it was borrowed by someone who shall remain nameless who moved just before going to Kenya and then Australia and couldn't find the book anywhere in the boxes of things in storage.

One book left and then I have to return to the Mulvi-Library for more books. The best part about this particular library is there are no fines. They're happy to see their books back in two days or two months!

Bamboo

Kamiah bought this yarn and asked for a scarf. She wanted a nice, tight pattern. Well, this bamboo didn't want to have anything to do with tight. It's slippy and slide-y and lovely and needed something loose. I have some of the same yarn in another colour so I might have to make one for myself - I like this one so much. It will be perfect for winter (it's nice and wide) and for spring/cool summer evenings. Nice and light and perfect!
