I decided not to get J a new costume this year (I was actually planning on making her a costume, but I ran out of time. I saved the pattern for next year) I'm not sure she'll be interested in a costume, so last year's costume it is!

Mini Pumpkin

J wanted a pumpkin when we were at the grocery store tonight, so I decided I'd get a tiny one. Then if we don't carve it, we can eat it. And if we do carve it, it will be a quick pumpkin carving session and J won't get bored before we're done!

What's Wrong With This Picture...

J is working very hard on toilet training and we're making lots of progress. These are her underwear...I had to choose between bikini briefs and boy cuts for her...there is something so wrong about that. Why does a two year old need bikini briefs? What happened to toddler underwear?!?!?!

Colouring Concentration

I received a breakfast-in-bed tray as a shower gift before we got married. With Alex working the night shift, there's no way I'm getting breakfast in bed anytime soon...We've been decluttering and we talked about sending it to the thrift shop. But then I had a brain wave.

We have been trying to find the perfect little table and chairs for J's room and haven't found anything that's just right yet. So, until then, she's got this tray set up and she can sit on the floor or in her chair and colour. She's thrilled.

This is the third non-breakfast-in-bed use this tray has had...it's been a Christmas tree stand and a card writing table for me when J was a baby and fussy...

Drying Her Hair

The owner of the salon where we get our hair done gave this to J last Hallowe'en instead of candy. She knew what to do with it immediately. We've started drying her hair with the real hair dryer before she goes to bed and she loves it.

Canucks Burrito

J has had some sleep trouble the last little while, but at nap time today she insisted on taking "Daddy's blanket" to bed with her. We swaddled her like we did when she was a baby and she thought it was great! And she fell asleep quickly and easily with no crying. Hopefully she'll sleep for a while!

Giraffe

While we were on the Island, we met up with a friend's sister's family. My friend had sent J's birthday present with her dad to her sister, knowing that we were going to be in the area and she figured that was the quickest way to get it to us. We had a great visit with her sister and her dad and her sister's family. Her sister has a little girl the same age as J, so J figured she'd died and gone to heaven!

Anyway, in the package for J was this adorable giraffe. She loves it!

Sleeping Soundly

Oh J. She refused to nap this afternoon. We thought she'd fall asleep on the drive to the ferry, but no. She chattered the whole way there. Well, almost. First she screamed and cried so much she started to gag so I jumped in the back with her. That slowed us down by almost ten minutes...we just made it to the ferry. We were actually two minutes late for our reservation, but they took pity on us and let us into the reserved line anyway. Thank goodness. Waiting for the next ferry would have been horrible. She slept pretty much the whole ferry ride and woke up on the way home.

There was a huge tree at the end of marathon course. J spent a lot of time playing under it while we were waiting for Kelsey. She was particularly thrilled when it was Daddy's turn to hang out with her for a while. Jumping is so much fun!

Krazy Kitchen

We're staying in a cottage for the Thanksgiving weekend. My parents and sister are in the cabin across the street (well, they will be, Kelsey arrives tomorrow). Our kitchen has some lovely wallpaper and enamel pots. There are some equally lovely enamel pots in the other cabin (they have teddy bears on them!) Oh well, they work and that's really all that matters!

J has discovered that markers work well on hands...but she's not so sure that she wants blue and pink and green hands all the time. Thank goodness a good bath seems to solve that problem!

J's daddy's company celebrated some big anniversary this year and he brought home individually boxed cupcakes for us. J wasn't so keen on hers. She ate a couple of bits and licked the icing and then declared she was done. Give it to Daddy.
