I Is For Inventions I LOVE
I love this fan. This fan is the best thing to happen to me today. Ahhhhhhhhh......something cool in the heat wave! This fan has been around forever! I remember it when I was a little kid. Thanks Mom for bringing it to us!

F Is For Fridge Gadget
This thing is a bit of a waste of space...we never thought we'd use it since we're not big beer or pop drinkers, but lately, ginger ale has been the cub's beverage of choice, so Alex brought a case home. This only holds 9 cans, not a whole case, and after the first one, they're a bit fizzy when they come out.

D Is For Daddy-to-be
Who happened to move just as I hit the shutter button. Silly Daddy-to-be! I've had a treat the last two weeks because he's been working the midday shift instead of the evening shift...means we actually get to have dinner together and spend more than half an hour together and see friends at night. AMAZING!
PS D is also for Devon whose birthday it is today...Happy Birthday Devon!

We just got home from a very cool event at the Chan Centre. This is the audience at intermission.

Train Tracks
I took this as we walked down to Granville Island for dinner. Where the tracks used to run, people have planted pretty gardens - food and flowers. And this really is a corner.

Not A Street Corner
This is how we spent our super exciting Friday night (okay, so we have to be at the hospital at 8:30 tomorrow morning for prenatal classes, but I think this means we're gettind old). On my way to bed at 10:30, I realized I hadn't taken the street corner picture today...since I'm ready for bed, I'm not going outside to find a corner (and I've already posted the one you can see from our window). Better luck tomorrow!

Kitty Corner
The Spy Store is kitty corner to the gas station from Sunday night. Yes, I do go out during the day. No, I don't spend my evenings hanging out on street corners. Yes, kitty corner is a correct term. As are catercorner and catty corner.

Room With A View
If you can call it a view...this is the view from our living room late at night. Because tonight, well, I forgot to take a picture. Again.

Heading Home
After a nice afternoon and evening with Alex's family, we finally arrived home just before midnight. And I forgot to take a picture until just before we got home. And gas is 146.8. Ridiculous. And out of focus. Sorry.

Watermelon Lemonade
Summer is here! Tonight I made watermelon lemonade...yummy!

Remnant
I have a basket of leftover yarn that I spent hours rolling into balls. The plan is that one day to create squares out of the leftovers and make a patchwork afghan for me. This was great yarn to work with - I made Isabella's baby blanket out of it. I used the same yarn in blue and in white to make two other blankets. I might just have to go see if I can find more of it in one of the yarn shops...once I've reduced my current stash substantially!

Triple Pink
I had to go upstairs to visit my friend the photocopier and came back to see these three pink things in a row on my desk. I totally left them that way, but I didn't notice until I went away and came back. The highlighter I was using earlier this morning, the Nalgene is a decoration and the flower is part of a pen that is disguised as a flower that I got at some Girl Guide event a while ago. I'm not sure if I've ever used it or if it even works, but I'm sure it ended up here because I didn't need more clutter at home...it even survived the move from the old building to the new building last summer.

Back-Up Drive
This is the back up drive for my memory for non-work related stuff. I had lots of people tell me to just wait for baby brain to come...and I only half believed them. Well, baby brain is here. And if I don't write it down, it never gets done. This book contains my life...to do lists, grocery lists, telephone numbers, stuff I want to tell Alex, but if I don't write it down, I forget before I get home...I've had a book like this for work forever, but I never thought my whole brain would need one!
Oh, and of course this is a Galison product.

Unwelcome Guest
This little brat tried to come visit us this morning. Cheeky little guy was still around fifteen minutes later - looked like he (she?) was trying to jump from the power line to the window of an apartment on the floor below ours.
I guess it's the old "If at first you don't succeed, try and try again!"

Request For Project 365
I've been finding it harder lately to get my picture taken every day and I'm not sure why...partly I think because we now live in an apartment and I don't go outside as much (I have just noticed this...) and the apartment doesn't have as many cool features as the blue house did. Anyway, I've decided that maybe having a weekly theme might help me take pictures every day. So, this is where I'm asking for your help...I need some themes. Please leave suggestions in the comments and as time goes by I will make my way through them. I am hoping that maybe a theme will convince me to post the pictures every day instead once a week or so when I decide it's time to empty my memory card...Anyway, suggestions, pretty please!

What Season Is It?
Okay, so we went from summerish weather to misery in the last three days. Yesterday it was COLD, very cold for June. I actually wore a long sleeved shirt, a hooded sweatshirt and my rain coat to work. And I needed them. Then the rain came last night. Today, as I walked across campus I saw this group of people. It was actually relatively pleasant out - it was a bit drizzly, but I was too warm in my rain coat. This gang is a bit over dressed - winter coat on the girl on the left, three of the four with toques on and the fourth with a hood, the two middle girls have gloves too (you just can't see them right now)...it's June...it's not supposed to be like this (although, with my built in heater I can't complain too much about the weather...it's actually quite comfortable!)

Changing Reading Habits
It started with one book, now it's moved to a second...and soon the board books, Pat the Bunny, Goodnight Moon and the like will become reading of choice. This was our most recent purchase so that we have an idea of what might happen when the cub arrives...I'm hoping it will relieve some of the baby changing and dressing anxieties.
And maybe one day I'll read a "grown up" book again.

Dadeo
Mmmmm....brunch at Dadeo. Alex wanted to try it out, so we got together with some friends for a late birthday brunch. This is the old Tomato location and the restaurant still surrounds the barber shop. The food was yummy - Alex had some kind of cajun scramble and I had French toast and I don't think there was any thing left on anyone's plate when we were done.
