Scanning Companions

I was supposed to scan some pictures of Alex for a slide show for our wedding, but my scanner at work died. I had to bring the pictures home and it took ages to scan...partly because it was great looking at the old pictures...Alex was a cute little kid! This tea mug was my constant companion through the scanning!

Light Reading On A Friday Night

I bought a slow cooker. Actually, to be more accurate, Alex's parents bought us a slow cooker. They gave us some money for a slow cooked a while ago and I just got around to going and using it. It's Provincial Meeting weekend for my Girl Guide committee, so I'm staying at the hotel with the rest of the committee...I forgot my book and the slow cooker book, well, it makes good bedtime reading!

The house is being painted. It's been a huge process, with men on lifts asking us to open and close our windows while almost killing us with fumes. But it will look nice when it's done.

Emmy Rigging

Alex wanted to watch the Emmys tonight. We get CTV normally, but it's just a fuzzy picture with sound and sometimes the sound is more static than sound, but we played with the cable and found that if we used lots of masking tape, draped the cable over the lamp and used a twist tie as an antenna, what do you know, it came in clear...and as a bonus a couple of other channels that didn't exist before on our tv now do.

Favourites

I spent the afternoon with a mountain of cookbooks, trying to find new and interesting options for lunches and dinners. Two of my most dreaded meal times. I just don't like most lunch food and there is so little time for dinner as I fly in the door from work and Alex makes a mad dash out. With less than an hour overlap, quick and easy meals are the best.

Anyway, after hours of pouring over the recipes and finding tons I'd love to try, I decided on an old favourite, hamburger soup with Kari's bread, and decided to make cookies for our staff meeting. Sigh...nothing like straying off topic!

Rainy Sunday Evening

The rain is here. September is here. Back to school is here. So I figured I'd celebrate by getting all cozy with some fleece blankets and spending the afternoon and evening reading...Harry Potter of course. The time has come to read all seven books...

Old Friends

Nerida came to for lunch and tea today. We aren't sure how long it has been since we saw each other, but we're figuring around the eight or nine year mark! And of course Alex has never met her. The last little while feels like it's been time to catch up with lots of old friends...I love it!
