Confetti

Alex and I brought home some treats from Italy when we were there in October. They have been safely stored in the cupboard, waiting for a special occasion. We broke out one bag of them today - these ones were all different - some had nuts, some had chocolate, some seemed to have licorice. I wish we could find them here too!

Baby J helped me with some computer work tonight. She wasn't interested for long. She is already a multitasker - while she helped me, she also modelled her new hat from Auntie Rebar.

Flowers arrived today from Mama...it was so nice to get them at home and not at the hospital. They really brighten the house up!

Visitors

Baby J has had a lot of visitors since she arrived...Stacey came tonight to see her...she was upset that Baby J decided to arrive while she was out of town and she didn't get to come visit us in the hospital.

A birthday present from Team Hardcore arrived while I was in the hospital. The Australian CD came with this "I'm Cheap, Buy Me Now" label. Baby J and I listened to the CD today and quite liked it!

Working Lungs

Baby J's lungs work...we had a bit of a long night with her last night...and it continued this morning while she cuddled with Daddy. But at least we know her vocal cords work.

Auntie Rebar's flowers were the first to arrive for the shell shocked parents and their new cub, Baby J. She made it safe and sound!

Surprise...

Well, this one technically isn't from the 17th and since it's of me, I obviously didn't take it, Alex did, but since we were in the hospital and not really in the mood for taking pictures while they were trying to figure out what was wrong with me and what the next steps were, this will have to do. It was taken just after midnight when they decided that I
(a) wasn't going home
(b) wasn't going to be put on bed rest until the baby came and
(c) was going to deliver, whether I liked it or not, in the next 48 hours.

For someone who's life has just changed drastically, at this point I was coping pretty well! Bring on the cub...

More Bling

Yes, I bought two pieces of bling. And this one is a bit crazy, but when else will I get to wear crazy jewelery?

Bling Bling

Alex and I went to dinner tonight and while he was in the bathroom the server came by and asked if my "friend" might want another drink. I haven't been able to wear my wedding ring for a few months, so after dinner, we stopped at a shop and picked up some cheap-ish bling for me to wear until my fingers aren't as swollen. Bling a whole TWO sizes bigger than my wedding rings...sigh....

Staying Hydrated

What with the hot weather and the cankles, I really need to stay hydrated...it's interesting how the more water you drink, the less water you retain! Anyway, here's to the pint glasses that make my daily water intake a bit more bearable!

Frozen Dessert

So, we've noticed this summer that ice cream is harder to find. Most of the stuff we've found is actually called "frozen dessert" and we're not sure what the difference is. I would expect it might have something to do with the additives and preservatives and all that, but I'm not sure. It kind of freaks me out...although, maybe I've been eating "frozen dessert" for years and I just never knew!

Mmmmm...Summer Fruit

I love summer fruit and vegetables. Peaches are definitely one of my favourites (along with berries, melons, apricots and plums). I also can't get enough of the peas, beans, carrots and other wonderful veggies. BUT I am also a big fan of winter foods...stews, soups, casseroles. Sigh...in my world...but I'll just keep reminding myself that I need to enjoy the summer food and winter food will be here soon enough....because when I'm enjoying the winter food, I will be wishing for the summer food...
