So, my keys, well, yeah. They're living at the bottom of our elevator shaft. It's a long story. But that's where they are. And that's where they've been for a while. Alex bought a magnet last week to try to retrieve the keys. This is the rest of the rescue kit and hopefully the rescue will be performed this week.
We spent close to an hour and a half at the park this afternoon - J and her daddy had lots of fun playing together - the slide was definitely their favourite!
Papa gave J this puppy and she spent this morning showing me this one and saying "Papa Puppy." Then she'd show me her stuffed puppy and say "Bop Puppy." She's figured out who gave her what!
Alex got these super strong magnets that we're going to drop down the gap in the elevator and try to recover my keys. They have been living down there for a few weeks and it's time to have them back1!
We won! Hockey Gold for Canada. Most gold medals in a winter games, ever, for Canada. Oh it was amazing having the Olympics here! And the crowds were out celebrating. This is the corner of Burrard and Robson.
This is the closest we're going to get to a gold medal hockey game. It was exciting just the same and J clapped and cheered so loud (not sure she understands what she's cheering for yet, but she's excited to cheer!)
I'm not sure about this window in a gallery on Granville Street. I really think it looks like the woman is trying to pull the man's head off and the man is trying to throw her backwards from the ankle...
A whole loaf of banana bread is too big for us and I keep thinking I should invest in some of those half sized loaf pans but I keep forgetting. I also keep forgetting that I DO have this mini loaf tin...but I remembered today. I made one recipe of banana bread which made eight perfect sized mini loaves - half with and half without chocolate chips. MMMmmmmmm...
Even though I told her she didn't have to go to bed after her bath, J didn't believe me and wouldn't let me put her jammies on in case I snuck her into bed. She played like this for quite a while before she got cold and brought her jammies to me! Her new favourite place to play is in the Bumbo with the tray and her farm animals. She is slightly large for the Bumbo these days!
J fell asleep in the stroller on her way home with Alex today...doesn't look too comfortable, but we covered her with her blanket and draped a dark cover over the stroller and she slept for over an hour. Like that. And she would have slept longer except I woke her up because I want to sleep tonight!
We can see the lasers from our house - J spent a long time watching them tonight before we closed the blinds the first time. They are a neat project - the public gets to design laser shows through the Vectorial Elevation website.
We went to see Alex's parents this afternoon and they took us out for lunch. J had IHOP for the first time and she loved it! She almost grabbed her plate our of the server's hands and she wanted to help Grandpa eat his too!
So, normally the slow cooker gets turned on just as I go out the door to work...not so much today. It was a bit of a crazy morning with Alex starting a new shift and needing to be out of the house by 6:40. Slowed me down a bit...will need to get used to the new routine.
Anyway, a bit like needing to use the ground beef up last night, we needed to cook the chicken tonight. I figured if I put it in the slow cooker at bedtime and I get just under 8 hours sleep, I can turn it off when I get up and cool it and dinner will be ready when we get home from work...we'll just have to reheat it.
Dinner was not sometime either of us was particularly looking forward to making plus I had ground beef we needed to use. So, in the interest of making Alex feel better, we had an super easy dinner - oh-so-good but oh-so-bad tater tot casserole. Once a year is enough.
J's sitter had a doctor's appointment this afternoon, so I took both the girls for a few hours. Not sure how she does it all day, every day...I'm pooped!
I was getting tired of the growing mound of toys in our living room. J had one small basket for her toys to go in and after Christmas, well, they didn't fit anymore! I saw these as I wandered through London Drugs and picked up two of them on Friday...oh yeah, they're the best!
J got a belated birthday gift from one of her great-aunties today. She spent most of the day making "food" in the bowl, cup and plate and then "eating" it!
We passed this Chihuly exhibit on our way to dinner tonight. When my parents visited me in London (a few years ago) there was a huge Chihuly exhibit at the Victoria and Albert Museum...so of course my dad and I had to stop and check this one out!
J and I have porridge for breakfast most mornings. Today I tried it J-style, with frozen blueberries stirred into the piping hot cereal (it cools it down fast enough for her to eat it RIGHT NOW!). It was good, but I prefer mine with raisins or dried cranberries.
This was mine when I was about eight or nine. J found it somewhere and she loves carrying it around. I don't think she has figured out that it glows yet!
