Lucky Stars
They're supposed to go in a doorway, but that just wouldn't work in our house...so they grace the kitchen window. I love them! Thanks again Fifers!

Multiplying Luggage
We go to Kelowna for one day with one bag and somehow come back with two...how does this always happen? Okay, so it's not as bad as it looks, we brought a bag of asparagus and some Christmas decorations back. And the suitcase. Which is mine, but somehow was living in Kelowna. It's not very full, but still...oh well...The asparagus is yummy and worth the extra luggage!!!

My Plant Grew Up
A. brought me this plant one day back in February when I still needed babysitting. It is done blooming, but the leaves are growing like crazy. I guess it likes the sunny corner of the kitchen.

Captivated By Playoff Hockey
After a long weekend of meetings and then a trip to the Bay to see about our registry, I was pooped. Alex and I watched Detroit beat Calgary and instead of the usual (both of us cheering for Vancouver), he wanted Detroit to win and I wanted Calgary to win. Detroit won. I may never hear the end of it!

I See Science World
I spent the day in meetings for Guides and this evening cursing the Canucks with the ladies from the Committee. It was late and dark when I got back to the hotel room to catch a few quick hours of sleep so that we can do it again tomorrow, well, the meeting part anyway. And yes, the new camera would have taken a much better picture, but it's not grown up enough to go on field trips two days in a row yet.

Big Black Cloud
The weather has been somewhat unpredictable the last few days. Regularly alternating between torrential downpours and bright, warm sunshine. I ventured out for a quick trip to the store in the sun (see the sun behind me) and got home just as the first big rain drops were splatting down (see the big black rain cloud...I live in that direction).

Stupid Paper Delivery Person
The rather annoying paper delivery person is at it again. As soon as the weather got nice last year, the paper dude start practicing a football throw or something. The paper regularly would hit the front door with such force as to shake the house and wake both us and K. whose bedroom is directly above our up. Grrr...Then the front gate would slam and a car would rev its engine and peel off down the road.
We finally figured out that if we called and complained, our complaint carried more weight than K.'s because she's the subscriber and they figure they won't lose her as a subscriber, but if they piss the non-subscriber neighbours off, they'll never become subscribers. Two phone calls from me did it and it wasn't a problem.
Until yesterday at 5:30 and then today at 4:45 there was a huge bang followed by the gate and the car. When I got up a few hours later, this is the site that greeted me...the paper was thrown so hard it knocked this rather heavy vase that was protected in that corner there right over.

On Air
Downstairs from our office is a makeshift tv/radio studio in the middle of an office...yup, makes little sense, but whatever. When they're recording, these little lights are illuminated to warn us not to stomp, yell, or holler (or something like that), but sometimes they turn on seemingly of their own accord and stay on for days. This one came on some time in the last couple of hours. I haven't gone downstairs for a while, so I don't know if it's for real or not.

It's Strawberry Time
The strawberries are back in the stores...okay, so they're the California kind that have white on the inside, not the tiny BC variety that are red all the way through, but they're strawberries just the same. And strawberries make me happy!

Uh Oh, Shannon Got A New Toy
Mmmm...new toy. Until now I've been using a Canon PowerShot A400, but today we went and bought the camera I've been coveting for months, the Canon PowerShot G7. I love my little A400, but it has limited capabilities. The G7 makes me happy. The A400 isn't going away just yet. One day I'll get a DSLR, but alas, this time it was not to be...that doesn't mean I'm not REALLY EXCITED about my new camera though! Gotta go open the box and start trying it out now...not sure how excited Alex is about the new camera...it might mean it will be more omnipresent than the old one!

My Books
When I worked at Pax Lodge, everyone had their "book," essentially a blank notebook. Whenever someone left, everyone else wrote in the departing person's book and she had the arduous task of writing in everyone's book. When we were fully staffed that meant that those not leaving wrote in one or two books a month while the poor person leaving had 13 or 14 books to write in on top of all the stuff one has to do a month before leaving somewhere they called home.
These books had a tendency to start out nice and thin but then expanded, sometimes even bursting their spines, as people added all kinds of things to them - pictures, badges, pins, gum, seashells, and all kinds of other assorted goodies. And of course the words...And the main thing, their contact information, the only consistent thing among almost every single book entry!
Anyway, while I was waiting for Alex to come home from work, I pulled out my books. It's a nice way to spend the evening, looking at pictures, being reminded of inside jokes and forgotten events, and reflecting on the wonderful friends I have (while lamenting that we're scattered around the globe).

Sunita Came Back!
And to celebrate we went for all you can eat sushi. Alex of course had to work and missed out on the belly stuffing, followed of course by gelato. Check out the all you can eat debris on the table.
It was nice to see Sunita and too bad she is only here for a few day...we miss her.
Oh, and we're actually sitting in a really big sushi boat, you just can't tell from this angle.
Sushi eaters are: Goran, Warren, Shannon, Ciara, Sunita, Stacey and Peyton.
